Big Uncle John's Visit

On the heels of Nana's visit, Big Uncle John is in Austin visiting from Denver, and Elliot loves having him here. Well honestly he may not know the difference, but Drew and I sure are enjoying it. Things are always fun when John is around. Today Elliot and I went to Town Lake for a 2-miler in the stroller while John tossed the water toy to Abby. Elliot is tiny anyway, but he looks really tiny when his Uncle John holds him.

Meanwhile Elliot is doing great. He hasn’t had a pediatrician appointment lately but we are certain he is gaining weight because we had to let out another snap on his Fuzzi Bunz, and he outgrew one of his onesies. He still likes to eat, sleep and poop. But he also likes to look around, play on his gym, listen to his dad read him story books, ride in the stroller and snugli, and sit in his papasan swing. He has a fussy time most every night from about 9-11:30 when he kicks his arms and legs around and fusses. We just smile and talk to him, toss him around, or go for a walk. We also sweetly call him Fussybuns during this time. Sometimes the binkie helps calm him and sometimes he spits it out over and over again. But never fail, at about 11:30 he conks out.

Last night he slept through the night. I tried to wake and feed him around 3am but he wasn’t interested and didn’t want to eat until 6am. I was floored. I don’t suppose this will happen regularly yet, but Drew and I were happy to get 6 hours of straight sleep last night for a change.

We have received so many cards and gifts from people all over who have kept up with our blog. Thanks to all of you! Elliot appreciates it and so do we.

Dear Elliot,
It sounds like you are being a very good little boy for your mom and dad. You do need to work on that cranky time late in the evening, but other than that, I hear you are being a sweetheart.
I also hear you and Uncle John became fast friends. You will grow up to like him a lot. He is very sweet, and very funny. He always makes people laugh. You really won his heart during his visit to Texas, and he tells me he is going to visit you often in the future. I am glad to hear that you, Abby, Mom and Dad are going for walks at the lake. The Texas weather is so nice and warm right now.
Tell your dad thanks for all the nice pictures he takes of you. It is great to see how fast you are growing.
Keep working on getting your bedtime closer to 8:00, and you will make your parents very happy. Nana loves you !!
